Standard Frame (9mm, .40, .357) Glock Gen 3 MRCK (Mag Release Conversion Kit)

Found this conversion by during an online search. If I was going to modify one thing on the Gen 3 Glocks it would be the magazine release. I wasn’t happy with the aftermarket solutions for a larger Gen 3 mag release. Ordered the kit, arrived within a few weeks. I had good consistent communication during that time about the product ship date.

Onto the project. I purchased a used Gen 3 G35 to use as a host frame and sold the slide and barrel. Converted to 9MM by adding a factory G17 barrel and Gen 3 MOS slide. The magazine release kit came with everything you need including a drill bit and blade. Check out the video before installing. Simply remove the factory mag release, install the jig and lay on a flat surface. Use the included drill bit and a cordless drill. No need to push or force, it bites right into the frame. Once all the holes are drilled, remove the jig and use the blade to carefully cut the opening by connecting the holes. Clean up the edges using the blade or a small file. Go slow and do not remove too much. Test fit the new mag release for clearance and make sure there is no binding.

Overall, compared to the Gen 4-5 mag release it is similar with the same style of plastic, feel and function. It uses the existing mag release spring and had the same amount of play as a factory release. It works with gen 3-5 magazines with no problems. One thing I will do is take a file to slightly break the edge at the front of the release. No big deal, just a user preference.

Finally at the range, I put about 500 rounds through the handgun. I used three fully loaded Gen 5 magazines for the first part of testing to make sure it would hold the weight and cycle without dropping the mags. Then I loaded 1-5 rounds per mag focusing on mag changes from lock back and closed slide. I did not encounter any issues. Yes this is a permanent mod, but well worth the small price and and the easy install. I appreciate the innovation to find a solution to a common complaint with the Gen 3 Glocks.

I installed this kit on my Glock 19.3 and am thoroughly impressed how easy it was. The gen 4/5 mag release style is such an upgrade from gen 3. Shortly after I placed my order, Nick had reached out if I wanted to wait for his MJF version and I am glad I did. The quality is great! Compared to a buddy's G19.5 and I don't notice any difference!

I personally hate the oem Gen 3 mag release. Every gen 3 mag release sucks.and if you buy any extended mag releases they dont work. This mag release is great. The little work you have to do to make this work is very simple. The kit makes this as easy as can be. Yes, I was a little afraid of screwing up my frame, but now that its done im buying another for my glock 30. Don't hesitate just buy it. It's a game changer if you dislike gen 3's because of the mag release.
